Parked.com Goes Down In Infamy In 2012

What a way to start off 2012: shutting your service down, not notifying your customers, AND, taking their money. That’s what Parked.com did to me, at least.

In case you hadn’t noticed — and don’t worry if you didn’t [given the fact that today's search engine algorithms have effectively killed off domain parking] — your Parked.com account is gone. Actually, so is their website. It’s nothing more than a blank white screen with a line of text that says “For questions regarding Parked.com, please contact PartnerSupport@Parked.com” — gee, thanks guys…don’t let the screen door hit your ass on the way out.

I suppose the most angering part about it is that there was NO notification whatsoever about Parked.com closing down. Not a 30 day notice, let alone a last minute one. I had an account manager at Parked.com, of whom never mentioned a word about this.

Let’s not forget the other two issues: 1) the earnings I still had queued up from domain parking revenue which Parked.com STOLE, and 2) about 4 years of invaluable domain parking data I had for almost 500 domain names, which is all gone.

I spent a couple hours going through my domains and forwarding them over to Voodoo.com (it’s a new parking service), which is pretty much all that any of us ex-Parked.com users can do at this point.

I’m so out of the domain parking realm that I can’t even list off any other services, to be honest. Well, except SEDO, but I was tired of getting $0.02/month for running a couple hundred domains with them. If you know of any good domain hosts, please list them below!

  1. Parked.com is gone, but as far as I can tell they didn’t steal any money. At least not from me. I was spooked when the site vanished, but a quick google search turned up that parked has been merged with whypark and both services are now at domainapp.com.

I totally understand if you want to quit using them because of their poor handling of the site shutdown. I personally will be moving domains because of their poor payouts by comparison to a few years back. This is just icing on the cake. On the upside though, we have NOT lost those 5 years worth of stats. Log into domainapp.com with your parked login and you’ll find your account is there with all your stats available.

If they owe you money, you ought to get it. Log in and make sure your account info is current with the new site. As much as I’m sure you want to bash them, us not getting notified is probably a mistake of one idiot parking rep. (we probably had the same rep)

  2. Go to DomainApps.com and you can login with your Parked.com username and password.

Apparently they just transferred everything over to them. It loaded my websites to there and also shows what I am owed in there payouts.
actually there stats and stuff are much more in depth and look really good so far.

  3. Geez, they moved to a new service? I’m shocked that an email was never sent about this. That was a really pathetic move on their part. You better believe I’m going after my money!

  4. I tried my parked account info at DomainApps and no luck. Do you guys know if accounts are still propagating over?

  5. I’d imagine they would by now…I took a look on Twitter, and it appears Parked.com unplugged sometime around January 5th!

  6. I also cannot login to Domain Apps:
“Your username or email address was not found. Please try again.”

I wrote an email to Parked and they answersed to me that I should make a phone call to be informed about the changes. Yes, you’ve read correct: I must spend money for an international call to know how I can access to my domain control panel. Unbelievable.

  7. I solved writing an email to Domain Apps assistence. They corrected my account problem and now I can login to domainapps.com and founded all my domains and statistics, including the small revenue earned till now. There’s only to change the domain dns to ns1.domainapps.com and ns2.domainapps.com.

  8. I was also flabbergasted when I found out… but so far I have not been able to sort it out. I’ll try Rob’s approach, and write DomainApps directly.

In any case, this is not what you would expect from a serious company. What happened? Were they bankrupt? Because if it was a takeover, then this has been badly mismaned…

  9. I did hear that it had something to do with bad advertisers (or a lack thereof). Parked.com really took a nose dive for me in the past year and a half!
