As the Economy Drops, So Do Domains!

Just in the past two weeks, I’ve been able to snag what could be considered a semi-premium domain name: a two-word, exact keyword .net domain of a kind of machinery. It has an estimated monthly search volume of 33,000 searches on Google, and has been cached for quite a few years according to archive.org.

This was only the beginning. I’m now watching two more domains of the same nature that have been dropped – they’re both due for release to the public on Friday. Both are two-keyword, exact term .net’s, as well.

A couple months ago, I was able to get another high profile domain name as a .org, which I was utterly shocked over how it had been dropped and not picked up. It receives daily type-in traffic, and has a long history of being cached on the internet. Hey, if it can pay for itself through domain parking each year, then I’ll keep it in my portfolio!

Never before have I been able to find so many diamonds in the rough – perhaps it’s due to the fact that the economy sucks, and people can no longer find the cash to support their once-bustling domain name portfolios?

All I can say to anyone looking for domains is to look daily, you’ll be surprised as to what you can find these days!

As for me, I use Domize to see what’s available. Marvel over how much money those guys probably make…every time you click an extension, it drops a GoDaddy cookie on your computer ;)
